There could have been any one of a dozen titles for this book, but once you sink your teeth into it, you’ll know why it’s called Conspiracy of Angels.  Zinnia Hope has crafted a down home, Americana tale of love the way love is meant to be. Although contemporary romance with a paranormal sub-genre, this tale is also a mystery, an adventure, and an inspirational tale of hope in its highest form.

I say hope because it has refreshed me in spirit, inspiring me to keep believing in humanity and to search for this kind of love.  It’s been two days since I closed the book and I can’t get the characters out of my mind.

Elizabeth Shaw, the heroine, returns to her small home town of Barnesville, Ohio, with her grandmother and 6-year-old son. Together, they attempt to put their lives back together and reach for their dreams, opening a small restaurant across from Jenkins Pharmacy. The leader of the community is Minister Rivers, a dark and overbearing, fire-and-brimstone preacher, who, at one time, chased Elizabeth’s family from town and threatens to destroy everything they’ve worked so hard to salvage.

The one true love of her life, Daniel Rivers, happens to be the minister’s son, and with a pure and steadfast heart, he pursues Elizabeth and a future with her and her beautiful son.  Determined to protect her heart from another crushing blow, she finds every reason on earth not to fall in love with him, but on page after page, you, the reader, can’t help but fall in love with the delightful, sexy preacher’s son.

Set in the beautiful and mysterious Appalachian Mountains, where the family lines stretch back nearly as far as the mountains are old, this story brings us into contact with forces of good and evil that are at war over a secret. One fights to keep the secret forever hidden in the shadows of the mountains, and the other to bring the festering past out into the sunlight for healing.

Unknowingly, Elizabeth and her grandmother have walked head on into a battleground, and the factor that will determine who wins, is the strength of Elizabeth and Daniel’s love.

I highly recommend Conspiracy of Angels. If you love the intimacy of girlfriends, great home cooking, romantic walks along the rocky banks of mountain streams, and if you yearn to fight for a good cause, you will love Conspiracy of Angels.

I warn you that as you start to read this book, the prologue has an entirely different flavor than the story itself, so please don’t stop reading until the characters come forward and hook your heart.  It’s well worth the short wait. The author has decided to lead into the story with a short scene from the past, rather than resort to flashbacks within the story. You’ll be glad for no interruptions once you begin falling in love with Conspiracy of Angels.

I give it 5 Roses.
